About Us

Russian Caviar House is a Moscow-based producer dedicated to sustainable sturgeon aquaculture. With wild sturgeon near extinction and wild harvesting illegal, every selection is 100% farmed in the ecologically clean Vologda and Smolensk regions.

Sturgeon are reared for 7 to 15 years to maturity, with roe development tracked by high-frequency ultrasound. The roe is gently sieved, washed in cold water, and cured with under 5% fine salt — the malossol method — then graded, aged, and vacuum-sealed. The result is caviar with rich flavour, delicate texture, and full traceability.

Frequently Asked Question

What is the best caviar for first-time buyers?

Ossetra is the usual recommendation — a balanced, nutty flavour with a smooth, approachable finish.

How should caviar be served?

Serve well chilled, ideally over ice, using a non-metallic spoon (mother-of-pearl, bone, or plastic) — metal can taint the flavour. Enjoy on its own, or with blini, lightly buttered toast, or crème fraîche. Open the tin just before serving.

How long does caviar stay fresh?

Keep refrigerated at -2 to 0°C and consume by the best-before date on the tin. Once opened, eat within 2 to 3 days for best quality. Never freeze.

Is your caviar sustainably and legally sourced?

Yes. It is 100% farmed (wild sturgeon harvesting is illegal), CITES-certified, and traceable to farms in the Vologda and Smolensk regions of Russia. It is imported into India in full FSSAI compliance.

Is it suitable for vegetarians?

No. Caviar is a non-vegetarian product (sturgeon roe) and contains salt.

What is your return policy?

As a perishable food, caviar cannot be returnedonce delivered, except where it arrives damaged or with a broken cold chain in which case contact us with photos within 24 hours for a replacement or refund.
